Well I have been quite busy in the last few days as well as my corporate activity I have also initiated a good link strategy, carefully placed content and social bookmarks plus a few requests to link to what I have been writing here. I have noticed a couple of unexpected link spikes that I am unhappy about and it looks as though somebody has done a little bit of activity to try and undermine my domain, this type of activity is common place but I am hoping that Google will just ignore those extra links, they dont look to natural.
Linking is still very controlled and slow, it needs to be natural especially as this is a new domain name, sitting tight on page 2 for a fortnight means that the domain has found its level and so now comes the real expertise. Google is caching slowly at the moment even though there is content going in regularly and this is a problem. Usually a new post will ping Google and get indexed fairly quickly but this is not the case at present.
I am going to turn my attention to internal pages over the next few days and certainly SEO Colchester as a location will be a target but more on that later.
I am not going to panic just quietly go about my business, I have edited the page title a little to become more of a phrase where it started life more of a statement, this is just a bit of testing to see how the site reacts when Google does start caching again, it can be a really good technique to test you page title and headings. It is also a good idea once a prominent listing is gained to test the description, this is not for ranking purposes but more for conversion rate from impressions to clicks from search results.
Its a proven fact that a well written description will pull in more visitors from its search profile than a poorly written description. I also am going to start building up the location pages, this is a legitimate exercise since there are searches made for locations on an increasing basis and also as an Essex based business I am able to offer my services to locations.
What I do need is content so I will be building this starting with the Colchester SEO page and then once I am happy with that content I may look towards other town pages. Colchester is a natural location since it is where I started in the industry with just two people. SEO was different back then of course and it was easy, a different story now that’s for sure.
So in short watch out for link spike activity, check your trend on your link graph.
Keep applying new links but still on a drip feed.
Do not lose patience, this URL has stuck to the middle of page 2 but I know I am doing my SEO correctly so have faith and persevere.

linking is essential but how do you do it now, i used to get recipricol links but am now told that is no good, i have paid for linking to be done by agencies and its still no good, i can see you are doing it right but how??
this is such an important part of getting positions but linking is so damn hard nowadays i am ready to give up.
I tried using India for my clients and got burned, we do it inhouse now but it takes ages, linking just sucks.
