Google May Day Update – still rumbling on…
After watching Matt Cutts talk about the May Day update again (I have watched it 5 times now) I still have a feeling there is more to it, obviously Google and SEO don’t sit easily together even when SEO is applied in a most responsible way so Google will always tinker with the system.
Whilst tinkering is one thing major updates are another, they come in a number of ways that affect SEO with the most significant and life changing having actual names, Florida,...

Well there has been little change in the position for SEO Essex after coming back from holiday, my guess is that the lull in linking activity has created a certain latency and the next week will see a concentration of linking activity with a focus on the word SEO.
At the same time some extra social media work and of course activity such as a Squidoo etc will again focus on the term SEO, it pays to balance out the anchor text when orchestrating link activity and too much concentration on...

Google Listings
Well its interesting to think that this is a brand new domain name and in theory Google will sandbox it and it will be months before I can get listed on the first page of Google.
That is what the industry will tell you if you are a potential client, the sales patter will talk about page rank and sandboxing about how Google will not trust new domains and it will take months of hard work to get listed. Well I am going to put this to the test here,...

Its been a difficult start to the year for many SEO agencies, Google is in a state of flux with huge amounts of activity, live results are also shuffling around serps and localisation is also affecting results.
In the old days before I moved my premises from a sleepy Essex village to a main town location position 4 or 5 for generic search terms was good enough to crowd people into your clients websites, now those positions can often be below the fold and click through rates are minimal.
Google has got...
